The Network and Sharing Center shows a complete/clean internet connection. The Icon in the toolbar shows the correct two-screens-w/globe with bits passing in and out. It's odd that even Vista/Windows Network Diagnostics claims it did not find any problems with this computer's network connection.

I went to the Device Manager and uninstalled the network adapter. Vista automatically re-installed it and then when I repaired the connection in the Network and Sharing center everything worked. Vista doesnt connect to XP Share.
I am running VISTA Home premium (desktop) and a laptop with Windows XP Home. The laptop is connected via a wireless network. I have TrendMicro Internet Security running on both. I could not share files or printers until I disabled the WINDOWS firewall on BOTH systems (via Control Panel / Security Center).
